Cute Cards

It was time once again to get creative in the card making department, so I pulled out my supplies and got to work. I enjoy giving them as gifts especially to my Mom because I know she is often needing cards so I feel as though it is helpful for her. Her birthday was recently so I made some cards and added them to her gift. I always worry that she doesn't need more but she always claims she has used up the ones I had given her. So she loved them! I didn't just do Birthday cards this time... I added a congratulations and Thank you cards to the mix.

Big Change

This week I had a client come in to the salon and she wanted a change. She has had an ombre for a long time and has never gone light on top (like highlights or anything). She has always kept her natural color.  She has the longest most beautiful hair! So I did a heavy weave, toned it and gave her a little trim... It turned out beautiful! Love it!

Photobooks

I LOVE pictures and I love taking pictures too. “You only regret the pictures you didn’t take.” I have so many pictures that just sit on my computer or my hard drive. How often do I go back and look at all those pictures on the computer? Hmmm… well not very often! So I needed a solution… and now I have a love for photobooks and for making photobooks!

I was a scrapbooker back in the day with my Mom and I loved it. I loved being creative and remembering all those adventures in life. But as I grew older scrapbook supplies got more intense and way too expensive for me to continue. It was time consuming and you could only really do it one place unless you wanted to take your supplies with you. After we got married I decided to try making photobooks and I haven’t looked back since. If you have a laptop you could make them anywhere.

As the years have gone on and I have made many photobooks I have learned many tricks and tips and you can definitely tell. I am an awful journal writer and so these photobooks have become my journal. You can make them for anything and it is fun to capture all those memories. I have made photobooks for my dance tours in Europe, my Grandparents life and ancestors, family trips, peoples wedding books and guest signing books, the boys NICU experience, photography books and last but my most favorite… I make one for every year! I guess you could call it our yearbook. J

I have used many sites… Some I like and some not so much. You can also find discounts almost anywhere. Walgreens and Shutterfly offer the most discounts.

  • Mixbooks- Awesome quality but more on the expensive side
  • Shutterfly- Took practice to figure out the site but now I love it. Their price adds up fast.
  • Walgreens- It’s my go to! This is the first site I started with so I know it the best so I’m fast with it. The quality is great and definitely more reasonably priced.
  • MyPublisher- I did my wedding book from here and I love it. The quality is good but for some reason I’ve never used them again.
  • Snapfish- Has the same program as Walgreens but not as good of quality.

Now that I’ve given you a brief summary on my photobook obsession in future posts we’ll do some tips, tricks, and advice. Until then happy Photobooking!

Twin Boys Nursery

I love to decorate and when it came time to decide on a theme for the boys nursery I could not find anything I liked. The baby animals, cars and sports were cute but I wanted to be different and use bright colors... not the same ‘ol pastels that are used in most nursery rooms. So I decided to take matters in to my own hands.

We went with my favorite lime green and bright blue. I added some brown and white to go with it. I also wanted to go a neutral theme so I went with shapes and if I do say so myself it turned out pretty darn cute. I made the valance, quilts, crib skirt, and decorative frames for the wall. I then added my special decorating touch.

Now that the boys are a year old I have added some more cute pictures of them and made a cute banner for their birthday that matches their room perfectly so we hung that up too. I LOVE the bright fun colors and the boys have loved looking at everything.
